Enjoy the experience

Our goal is to make learning fun and easy, allowing you to learn at your own pace without any pressure. Your training through our PADI Scuba instructor will enable you to become a safe, confident diver so you can truly enjoy the incredible experience of scuba diving. Our moto is service not profit. To do this we keep all our dive courses to a maximum of 6 students, allowing our PADI dive instructor to spend quality time with each individual, to practise your diving skills over and over until they become second nature.

Knowledge Development

You will be supplied with a PADI open water crew pack and the theory is all done from home via our PADI online Elearning classroom.  This allows you to fit the theory into a busy work life. The theory just has to be completed before the Confined water session.

The course is spread over two consecutive weeks. On the first Saturday you meet on site at C.H.Smith Marine for the pool session. After completing the online learning theory session.

Confined Open Water

The confined water diving is conducted at a private pool on the Saturday before the open water dives. This is where the fun begins, you will be taught to breathe underwater and become familiar with dive equipment and how to use it. You will become a master at all the skills you need to perform in the ocean.

Open Water Diving Component

The open water dives are held at "WAUBS BAY" in Bicheno. Here you will take part in four open water dives over a weekend, building on what you have learnt in confined water. These shore dives offer excellent sightseeing opportunities and it is not unusual to see dolphins, seahorses, crayfish and weedy sea dragons. Our experience has shown us that the shore dives are most successful for first time divers. They avoid the possible stress associated with first time boat divers, sea sickness and anxiety. Also, the chance of cancellations due to weather conditions is dramatically decreased.

Course costs and what that covers

The course cost is $575, your equipment and dive gear is provided for you, however we do recommend for hygiene reasons and for a more comfortable dive, that you purchase you own mask and snorkel.
